    • You have sent the ZLC DATM your dropbox email address - You have nothing to do. You are still getting updates as necessary.
    • You used the single link access to add the ZLC Public folder to your Dropbox - You need to delete the current ZLC PUBLIC folder in your dropbox, then complete the ZLC Dropbox Setup CBTs to get the most up to date files for ZLC. RC > Computer Based Training > Orientation.

TEST TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE RECEIVING UPDATES:
If you wish, contact the DATM and we will setup a test

    • If you currently utilize the local download method, revisit the Downloads page > Resources on the Resource Center for instructions on how to get your updated ZLC files from now on. (Again... Highly suggested to discontinue this method and utilize the Automatic update system.)
  • Computer Based Training
    • In preparation for ZLC Support of vATIS files, a new CBT has been added to clarify the standard use for ZLC vATIS features such as Pre-Defined Messages. It can be found at RC > Computer Based Training > Orientation

  • Removed the .CALLSIGN command that would open the controllers' default browser to the FlightAware page telling the controller what the Telephony of the entered three letter code is.
    • Replaced the old .CALLSIGN command with a new ISR. The format of the new command is a simple .id (no space) (3 letter code or spelled out telephony of the carrier) (enter). What will return is the 3LD and the telephony of what was entered. Check the Command Reference Page for more details. RC > Radar Software > Phraseology & General Help > (last entry)
    • Note: Virtual Airlines will be included as more feedback is sent to admin. For more information, reference the Command Reference Page note #22.

2FEB2020

  • Removed from the Scatchpad use directive: "Note- the direction fo FF or NFF is not required in the ScrachPad when the destination airport is known via the flight strip data."
    • The direction of flight is still required in the scratchpad for a VFR departure even if the destination airport is known.

  • Removed from the General Controlling directive: "If the pilot makes a request for flight following/radar services to an airport or tells the controller their desired arrival airport with a cruising altitude, the ATC may assume the pilot wishes to have flight following/radar services. If the pilot only requests a VFR departure and arrival airport, it is assumed the pilot does not want flight following/radar services."
    • Regardless of additional information provided by the pilot, controllers will not solicit flight following/radar services unless specifically requested.

31JAN2020

  • Removed the Vectors to Final directive in the General Controlling Directive in order to reduce redundancy. The previous intent of the directive was to clarify a general concept with certain rules associated with vectoring aircraft safely around terrain/obstacles. These concepts will be taught during controllers basic radar vectoring training.

08DEC2019

  • In anticipation for updated radar/non-radar converge areas and future ZLC procedures concerning fields within non-radar coverage areas we have added the .LT command in the GROUND-TO-GROUND COMMUNICATIONS section of the Command Reference page. This command should be available on the next alias file release (AIRAC 1913). This command sends the current time as the "Landed Time" for an aircraft to the selected controller.
This will be relevant at a later time when an IFR arrival lands at a field that does not have RADAR coverage that reaches within 1/2 mile of the runway end. These fields will require ATC to provide non-radar separation once an aircraft is on approach to that field until the TWR controller sends the controller providing approach services a landed time for the arrival aircraft. Course material and procedures for these type of updates are currently in the works.

9NOV2019

  • The .PO and .HO commands have been arranged to align with the 7110.65 format for these type of coordination. The command .APREQ has been added to the command reference page under Ground to Ground communications. These updates will be available on the next alias release.
  • The following has been added to The General Controlling Directive, General Section.
Flight Following / Radar Services
  • Do not solicit a flight following request from pilots. If the pilot makes a request for flight following/radar services to an airport or tells the controller their desired arrival airport with a cruising altitude, the ATC may assume the pilot wishes to have flight following/radar services. If the pilot only requests a VFR departure and arrival airport, it is assumed the pilot does not want flight following/radar services.
  • All flight following aircraft will be assigned the appropriate scratchpad for the requested service per the Scratchpad Use Directive.
  • Terminate radar services without a pilot request in the following manner:
    • Class B Field departure not requesting radar services: Once outside of the Mode-C Veil.
    • Class C Field departure not requesting radar services: Once 20 miles from the primary airport.
    • TRSA Field departure with a request for TRSA/Radar Services: If the pilots does not wish to continue radar services, terminate radar services once outside of the TRSA airspace..
