NOTICE TO AIRMEN

GENERAL

  • All facilities under the jurisdiction of ZLC ARTCC are considered "open" while appropriate ATC are online to control those facilities.
  • All military controlled facilities/airspaces (TOWERs and RAPCONs) that are controlled by the USDOD ATC in real life (not FAA) will be considered uncontrolled by ZLC ARTCC.
    • USDOD Facilities:
      • KHIF TWR
      • KMUO Mountain Home Airport TWR and RAPCON (Approach)
  • “Why is (airport) landing south when in real life they are landing north?”
    • ANSWER: We make our decision for directional operations at our fields from the real world Standard Operating Procedures and Letters of Agreements. In the real world they are allowed to deviate from those procedures in order to accommodate other factors such as traffic flows, ATC staffing, equipment outages, etc... We are allowed to override these parameters for some of the same reasons. Therefore, our current traffic flows, ATC staffing, training, etc... may sometimes result in us not running the same operations as real world. If there is a specific reason you wish to arrive/depart one of our fields in the opposite direction from our current OPS, simply make the request. If our traffic flows and other situations allow it, we would be inclined to satisfy the request.

KBOI

  1. Pre-Departure Clearance (PDC)
    1. KBOI utilizes a simulated PDC system allowing the controller to private message the pilot their clearance in the format resembling a PDC via Controller Pilot Data Link (CPDL) system.
    2. When issued a PDC, ensure all text is read and understood, as the route section may have been changed due to weather, traffic flow, letters of agreement, etc... and any special instructions, including climb instructions.
    3. Do not reply to the private message.
      1. If a question about the PDC exsists, contact the approapriate Clearance Delivery controller on frequency.
Example: "Boise Clearance, DAL1234. Question about the PDC".
      2. If no question exists, contact Ground Control when ready for taxi.
    4. Example PDC message:
***Pre-Departure Clearance___ Do NOT respond to this message. Only if you have a question should you contact the appropriate ATC Freq*** ___CALLSIGN: SWA2920 ___ACFT: B737 ___DEP: KBOI ___ARR: KSAN ___BEACON: 6523 ___CRZ ALT: FL380 ___DEPRT CNTRL on 119.600 ___APPROVED ROUTE: GOWEN3.BOI HYVAL REO J7 LAX COMIX1 ___INSTRUCTIONS: Maint 16k.

KBZN

  1. In the real world, TRACON services are provided by BOI ATCT (known as "Big Sky Approach". Due to the limitations of VATSIM and logistical challenges, Big Sky Approach controllers will either be signed in BOI_APP or BZN_APP
  2. Controllers will be signed in as and primed as one of the respective callsigns. The controllers will only be controlling for the particular airport they are signed in as. Both radio callsigns will be known as "Big Sky Approach."
